Responsibilities
- Good knowledge of all international surface preparation standards, painting/coating application standards, inspection standards, contract, specifications, material technical data sheet, material safety data sheet, documentation etc.
- Witness prequalification of painting system, painter, blaster and adhesion testing subjected for project approval before commencement of painting activities.
- Coordinate in-coming coating materials (e.g., paints, thinners, abrasives etc.) conditions, data sheet and batch certificates in accordance with project.
- Inspect correct type of blasting equipment and tools to be used to meet the paint quality according to the paint specification.
- Inspect pre-cleaning or solvent cleaning of surface, metal surface imperfection/defects, surface profile of blast cleaned surface using right inspection tools.
- Assess surface cleanliness soluble salt contamination on blast-cleaned surface and related test such as pull-off test & reports.
- Able to handle painting inspections in blasting and painting inspection of tank coatings, ship hull painting, and structural items
- Coordinate Request for inspection (RFI) to third party and client paint inspectors on hold point and witness point as per project inspection test plan (ITP).
- Able to send enquiries to Paint manufacturers for Painting Specification in accordance with project Requirements and Secure Quality document for painting; Inspection & Test plan, blasting and coating procedure.
- Ensure calibration certificates of painting instruments are valid & available for reference
- Supervise the workplace and workers safety.
- Ensure coating is practical and in accordance with the specified requirements by preparing or reviewing drawings, specification, job instruction and material selection notes etc.
- Review Inspection Test Plan (ITP) as per project specification and procedures
- Coordinate and perform Coating inspection of structural, piping and outfit works etc. of the assigned project as per approved ITP.
- To monitor all painting/coating related works and ensure all final products meet project specification requirement.
- Conduct surveillance inspection of surface preparation, paint mixing, WFT, DFT adhesion and curing of paints.
- Coordinate with yard QA/QC team for all quality documentation submission to SCM with the construction completion.
- Conduct onsite audit as per relevant specification and customer requirement.
Requirements
- Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering / Marine and Offshore or equivalent.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant work experiences in shipbuilding / oil and gas / offshore projects as Coating Inspector.
- Working in FPSO/FSO/FPU Project will be added advantage.
- NACE Level II/III or FROSIO Level II/III or ICORR Level II/III or equivalent.
